First official mention of the Poysdorfer Aspergerhaus, today’s Taubenschuss winery, in the Theresian version.

1841

The beginning

Company founder and business owner Anton Taubenschuss I. (1841 – 1897), 3rd from left in the picture, is born.

1891/92

Education

Anton Taubenschuss II (1874 – 1929) starts his first semester at the Lower Austrian
Landes-Weinbauschule Feldsberg
(today Valtice, CZ)

1924

Career

Anton Taubenschuss II becomes a member of the 1st management of Sparkasse Poysdorf.

1941

Starting signal at the winery

Maria Taubenschuss (1883 – 1952) and her son Anton Taubenschuss III were one of the first wineries in Austria to bottle their own wines in 0,7 liter bottles.

1954

Anton Taubenschuss III (1923 – 2013) takes over the business and marries Maria Taubenschuss (née Franer, 1931 – 2010)

1960s and 1970s

Quality wine pioneers

One of Austria’s quality wine pioneers with the production of dry, acidic, high-quality wines. Wines with single-vineyard designation and cork brandy are also bottled.

Already selling in tourist regions such as Salzburg, Zell am See and Velden am Wörthersee and exporting internationally to the Benelux countries.

Company takeover

Helmut Taubenschuss (born 1957) takes over the business and marries Monika Taubenschuss (née Gindl, born 1962).

He continues the decades-long tradition and produces high-quality wines with the character of the respective vintage. Monika is an extremely talented saleswoman and is now responsible for sales.

1991

Identity

Relaunch of the label and international registration of the brand with the dove.

(Wine brand for connoisseurs no. 229065).

1992

Helmut Taubenschuss is named Austrian Winemaker of the Year in the Weinviertel by the renowned trade magazine Falstaff.

Dove gallery

Exhibitions at the winery by various Austrian artists, including Prof. Josef Bramer, Paul Flora, Prof. Karl Korab, Josef Mühlbacher, Wolfgang Hutter, Prof. Anton Lehmden and many more.

2003

Monika Taubenschuss becomes chairwoman of the Poysdorf tourism association.

2007

Grand opening of the Artists’ Dove Gallery on the occasion of Helmut Taubenschuss’s 50th birthday.

2008

The new generation

Son Thomas Taubenschuss (born in 1988) is increasingly involved in his parents’ business in the areas of marketing, sales and logistics.

2009

The first wine made by young winemaker Markus Taubenschuss (born in 1992), a Gelber Muskateller, is launched on the market. He is currently studying at the viticulture school in Krems.

2011

20th anniversary of the brand with celebrations at the winery in Körnergasse.

2011

Everything new!

Monika Taubenschuss is already in her fifth term of office as Poysdorf’s Tourism Chairwoman and two events have already been established in the Poysdorf calendar over the years. One is the Veltliner Symposium, which takes place every two years, and the other is the annual Tourism Day. Both were developed in close cooperation with tourism expert and long-time head of Österreich Werbung Prof. Fritz-Karl Ferner (1943-2024).

2012

General renovation of the Winzerhof anno 1600.

2013

More than 305,000 guests visit the Lower Austrian provincial exhibition “Bread and Wine”, including thousands of visitors to the Taubenschuss winery in Körnergasse for bread and wine tastings.

2014

The Golden Trowel

Awarded the Golden Trowel by the state of Lower Austria for the redesign of the inner courtyard at the winery.

2015

Relaunch of the label by the brothers Markus and Thomas.

2016

Showroom

Opening of the new showroom at the winery

Roommates in the vineyard!

The first own grazing sheep for the vineyards are purchased.

Young talent

Markus and Martina Taubenschuss (née Faber, born 1990) marry and their first daughter Marlene Taubenschuss is born.

Mathea Maria Taubenschuss, Markus and Martina’s second daughter, is born.

Certified organic wine!

From the 2023 vintage, the entire winery will be certified organic and the first organic wine will be launched on the market in the same year.

2023

The first Blanc de Blancs sparkling wine produced entirely in-house by Markus Taubenschuss is launched on the market. It immediately receives the highest awards.
One of the best 5 sparkling wines in Austria in the renowned A LA CARTE wine guide, 93 points ROBERT PARKER (US), 94 points in the FALSTAFF wine guide.

2024

Taubenschuss International!

Highest international ratings from the US wine critic Robert Parker.
Around 35% of production is now exported internationally to over 10 different countries. Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Poland, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Finland, Norway, USA, Canada.
